MULTIPLE ACCIDENT ON TRONCAL DEL NORTE

At least ten vehicles were hit by a cane-hauling truck that suffered mechanical failure at kilometer ten and a half of the Carretera Troncal del Norte, in the lane from San Salvador heading toward the northern part of the country.

Four Comandos de Salvamento units and a Rescue Unit, as well as other agencies, arrived at the scene of the traffic accident, where at least 5 passengers on route 45AB sustained injuries, in addition to a motorcyclist who came close to dying beneath the truck’s wheels.

According to information from the truck driver, the vehicle transporting sugarcane to the Apopa area suffered mechanical failure in the brake system, causing it to crash into approximately ten cars and the motorcyclist.

Comandos de Salvamento rescuers stabilized most of the injured people and, together with SEM and the Red Cross, transported them to various medical centers.
