Thirty volunteers from Comandos de Salvamento will travel this Monday to Guatemala and Honduras to support search-and-rescue efforts for victims left by Hurricane ETA.
The rescuers are trained in these efforts and will support the other groups of rescuers from institutions in these brother nations, at the request of the Minister of the Interior and Director General of Protección Civil, Mario Durán, and following the offer from President Nayib Bukele, who has already sent aid to those nations affected by the storms.
Early this Sunday, the young volunteers were called in to join the expert rescuers and make themselves available to the migration and health authorities to comply with COVID protocols and entry requirements for Guatemala and Honduras.
Comandos de Salvamento is part of the contingent formed by Bomberos Nacionales, the Red Cross, and the Salvadoran Green Cross, as well as members of FOSALUD and others who will provide assistance in those countries affected by the heavy rains caused by Hurricane ETA.
Comandos de Salvamento has already participated in humanitarian efforts during the earthquakes in Ecuador and Mexico, where they provided assistance to the population during the worst moments.
