TANKER TRUCK DRIVER DIES BURNED TO DEATH

The driver of a tanker truck transporting liquid gas died around noon after crashing into the rear of a tractor-trailer on kilometer four of the Northern Trunk Highway in Ciudad Delgado.

Comandos de Salvamento arrived at the scene of the tragedy, where the flames prevented anyone from approaching the vehicles. The liquid gas and explosions also caused a used auto-parts shop to be engulfed by the fire.

National Firefighters struggled to extinguish the flames that completely consumed the tanker truck. Its driver died burned to death, and judicial and prosecutorial authorities are expected to arrive to identify the body.

Because of the incident, the Northern Trunk Highway has been closed for safety reasons.
