Responders from Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador assist an atropellado person minutes earlier.

Four volunteers from Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador were injured on Sunday night on Avenida Independencia and 9th Calle in the city of Santa Ana, when the driver of a vehicle, apparently under the influence of alcohol, disobeyed the stop sign.

The responders were returning from Hospital San Juan de Dios after admitting a patient who was the victim of an atropellamiento on the Carretera a Candelaria de la Frontera.

The young volunteers from Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador suffered trauma and were assisted by Cruz Verde and Rescate Sin Frontera, who admitted them to Hospital San Juan de Dios for evaluation.

The vehicle’s driver attempted to flee after the incident; however, the damage to his car prevented him from doing so. Nevertheless, he tried to impersonate another person so that it would appear that someone else had been driving.

The Policía Nacional Civil Traffic Division arrived at the scene to determine responsibility for the accident. The driver was therefore detained pending investigation and an antidoping test.

The delegate of the Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador branch, who was driving the unit, suffered minor injuries and asked drivers to yield to ambulances, since they are transporting victims to medical centers.

Three of the four responders who were injured wait at Hospital San Juan de Dios in Santa Ana.
The vehicle’s driver disobeyed the stop sign and collided with the Comandos de Salvamento ambulance in Santa Ana.
