Young students who are part of the emergency brigades followed the instructions. Twenty-two years ago, two powerful earthquakes destroyed part of the national territory. January 13 and February 13 changed the lives of thousands of Salvadorans.
That year, dozens of people lost their lives when their homes collapsed during the tremors. One of the emblematic neighborhoods of that tragedy is Las Colinas, in Santa Tecla.
In response, Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador, Jucuapa branch, in the Departamento of Usulután, conducted an earthquake drill with students from the Instituto Nacional de Jucuapa, where teachers and students who are part of the emergency brigades put their knowledge into practice, with the sole objective of measuring the effectiveness of evacuations and care for the injured.
Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador seeks through this initiative to train new generations in the event of a strong earthquake that could affect the Salvadoran population, providing the available training so that evacuations can be carried out calmly and the injured can be assisted.
Representatives of the Instituto Nacional de Jucuapa thanked the members of Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador, Jucuapa branch, for their time and dedication in training the young students, as well as the teaching staff, to respond to any emergency that may occur at the educational center.
