Rescuers from Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador have provided pre-hospital assistance to people who are already staying in the various shelters that have been opened preventively by the authorities of the Government of President Nayib Bukele.

The Executive Director of Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador, Roberto Cruz, ordered his volunteers to remain on maximum alert due to the rains caused by Tropical Storm Pilar, which has affected the national territory since last Sunday.

Vulnerable areas were evacuated by the authorities of Protección Civil, and the families were taken to shelters where everything necessary has been provided to prevent tragedies in the areas being affected by the storms.

Brigades of Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador are deployed to assist older adults suffering from illness, as well as infants, in order to prevent any complications at the shelters.

Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador maintain constant monitoring of rivers and ravines that pose a danger to the population, although Tropical Storm Pilar could stop affecting us in the coming hours.

There have been landslides and fallen trees that have affected some homes and roads in the country, said Roberto Cruz, who noted that his volunteers are helping with efforts to reopen vehicle passage and place families whose homes have been damaged in safe conditions.

Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador is calling on the public to remain alert because the accumulation of water in the soil could weaken walls or slopes that endanger residents’ lives. Therefore, it is necessary to have clothing, food, and medicines on hand to take to the shelters managed by the authorities of the Central Government.

However, Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador will keep its volunteer personnel on alert because a new threat of rain has formed in the Atlantic that, according to authorities from the Ministry of the Environment, could arrive by the end of this week. In response, the brigades will remain activated for any emergency.
