Rescuers from Comandos de Salvamento provided assistance to personnel from the Cuerpo de Bomberos de El Salvador, who worked to extinguish a fire that this morning consumed at least five homes located in Colonia Beatriz, on Avenida Juna Bértis, in Ciudad Delgado.

According to a preliminary report, there was a short circuit in one of the homes consumed by the flames. Comandos de Salvamento and other first-response agencies arrived to extinguish the flames, which spread rapidly due to the construction of the houses.

The incident began at around eleven in the morning, and for more than an hour the bomberos battled to keep the fire from affecting more homes. Nearly four homes were completely consumed, and it was not possible to rescue belongings because no one was inside them.

Rescuers from Comandos de Salvamento treated two people who were affected by the incident.

One of them was identified as Rosenda Romero, 95, who experienced respiratory problems due to smoke inhalation and was taken to the Ciudad Delgado Health Unit.

María Paula Arévalo, 53, suffered a nervous breakdown and was treated by Comandos de Salvamento volunteers providing prehospital care.
