Comandos de Salvamento will maintain the alert at its bases nationwide, as authorities from the Ministry of the Environment and Protección Civil state that the rains will continue in the coming hours.
Due to the accumulation of water in high-risk areas, it has been necessary to continue with preventive evacuations, stated Roberto Cruz, Executive Director of Comandos de Salvamento.
Our volunteers have been on duty 24/7 to respond to vulnerable areas, asking people to leave the area so they can be taken to shelters where the municipal authorities and the Government of President Nayib Bukele have provided what is necessary.
Our personnel are also responding to accident emergencies reported in recent hours due to the difficult road conditions, as well as fallen trees.
This afternoon, a bus belonging to route 21 was damaged when a tree fell on it, injuring the driver, who was waiting at the terminal when the incident occurred on Avenida Cuscatlán and 8th Calle Oriente in San Salvador.
Another case in which the young rescuers of Comandos de Salvamento participated was the rescue of a man who was fishing in a ravine near the San Antonio River, close to Residencial El Encanto, Zaragoza, where the force of the water was dragging him away.
Thanks to the intervention of Comandos de Salvamento and other institutions, he was rescued and taken to a medical care center.
