Children, women, and elderly people were evacuated by Comandos de Salvamento and Protección Civil in Alegría.

Rescuers from Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador were alerted by several families who were affected by flooding caused in recent hours by the rains affecting the national territory.

Around 5 families were evacuated this afternoon in Caserío Rodeo 2, Cantón Zacamil, Municipio de Guazapa, north of the Salvadoran capital.

The evacuated people, along with their pets, were taken to the homes of nearby relatives, where they took shelter from the inclement weather.

In the eastern zone, members of Comandos de Salvamento from the Alegría branch also carried out the preventive evacuation of 28 people, including children, women, and elderly people, due to rising streams and rivers in the La Pila sector, in the Alegría district, Usulután Norte.

Comandos de Salvamento, together with Protección Civil, were responsible for bringing several families to safety, taking them to a shelter that had been set up by municipal authorities.

In Santa Ana, several streets were affected by the rushing water, which swept away vehicles and motorcycles.
