Members of the Diving Unit of Comandos de Salvamento of El Salvador, rescuers and emergency responders from the Sensuntepeque branch, conducted an intensive search in recent days for a Guatemalan citizen who disappeared in the waters of the Lempa River.

On Sunday afternoon, Nixon René Antonio Hernández, 52, a Guatemalan national, arrived with family members to enjoy the waters of the Lempa River, at the San Juan Nuevo Edén bridge.

However, his relatives noticed that he was not at the site and began searching for him, requesting assistance from the emergency responders of Comandos de Salvamento of Sensuntepeque, who were patrolling the area.

From those hours onward, the Diving Unit of Comandos de Salvamento of San Salvador began transporting equipment and personnel to support the search and rescue efforts.

However, after nightfall, operations were suspended and resumed in the early hours of Monday.

Despite traveling several kilometers by boat and searching areas of greater depth, the divers were unable to locate the person, so the operation was suspended when night fell.
