NEW TRAGEDY ON THE TRONCAL DEL NORTE

Responders from Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador, Guazapa branch, were alerted this afternoon to a new traffic tragedy reported at kilometer 45 of the Carretera Troncal del Norte, involving a bus and a vehicle, leaving one person dead and one injured.

The traffic accident occurred when route 170 bus, traveling from Chalatenango to San Salvador, collided head-on with a car traveling in the opposite direction with two occupants.

The driver of the sedan died instantly due to the trauma sustained when the front part of the car was destroyed; the other person was assisted by responders from another institution.

Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador dispatched its Vehicle Rescue Unit to free the young driver, who had become trapped among the twisted metal of the vehicle.

Humberto Eliseo Arriaga Mejía, 29, originally from San Fernando, was the person who died in this tragic traffic accident.

Personnel from the Vehicle Rescue Unit of Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador and members of the Cuerpo de Bomberos Nacionales worked for several minutes to free the body of the young man who had died.
