Carlos Reynaldo Atilio was driving the vehicle in which the three women accompanying him lost their lives.

This afternoon, rescuers from Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador, El Congo branch, were alerted about a traffic accident that occurred at kilometer 42 of the Pan-American Highway leading from San Salvador to Santa Ana.

In the road accident, the four occupants—a man who was driving the vehicle and three women—lost their lives after crashing into a tree and overturning onto an access street in Colonia Italia, in the Coatepeque district.

One woman was thrown from the vehicle, while three of them remained inside the vehicle, making it necessary to use the hydraulic equipment of the Cuerpo de Bomberos Nacionales to recover them.

Comandos de Salvamento and another relief organization helped move the bodies to safe areas so they could be identified by the corresponding authorities.

The deceased victims were identified as Enilda Noemi Herrera Viana, 93; Miriam Stella Aguirre Viana, 88; Margarita González de Saldaña, 72; and Carlos Reynaldo Atilio, 55, who was driving the vehicle. They were all originally from Ahuachapán.

In another incident, a 46-year-old man lost his life in Plan de La Laguna, Antiguo Cuscatlán, during a workplace accident.

The victim, identified as Luis Alonso Jurado Zelaya, 46, was unloading a vehicle inside a company when he was struck by another truck; the causes of the traffic and workplace accident are unknown.

Volunteers from Comandos de Salvamento de Antiguo Cuscatlán responded to the accident site. However, despite the rescuers’ efforts, Luis Alonso lost his life at a medical facility where he had been taken.

Finally, in the morning, a motorcycle-riding couple lost their lives at kilometer 7 of Bulevar Constitución, traveling from east to west.

Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador responded to the accident site, but due to the severity of the trauma, a man and a woman had already lost their lives after crashing into the rear of a truck transporting bricks.

Bomberos Nacionales used hydraulic equipment to free the bodies.
