This morning, four German tourists traveling in a minibus toward the western part of the country miraculously survived after the vehicle collided with the rear of a sand truck on kilometer 45 of the Pan-American Highway.
Around seven-thirty in the morning, a call alerted Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador, the El Congo and Ciudad Arce sections, about the traffic accident. Upon arriving at the scene, they found four German women with multiple traumas, so they were stabilized and subsequently taken to Hospital San Juan de Dios in Santa Ana.
Two of the tourists were identified as Alin magdalena, 23, and Eva Hagemeijer, also 23; both were admitted to Hospital San Juan de Dios.
Ambulances from Comandos de Salvamento and another organization participated in assisting the tourists, who had various traumas. Meanwhile, the driver of the minibus in which they were traveling had lost his life and was trapped inside the vehicle.
The deceased victim was identified as Salvadoran Antonio Alexander Montenegro Torres, 53, who was freed and left at the scene so that the corresponding authorities could carry out the legally required recognition.
