Due to the constant rains that have been affecting the national territory, Protección Civil authorities raised the alert from green to yellow for the coming hours.

The executive and operational leadership of Comandos de Salvamento of El Salvador has sounded the alarm for its branches so that volunteer personnel remain vigilant and ready for emergencies.

The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources indicates that the rains will continue due to the influence of a low-pressure system fed by moisture from the Pacific.

This puts the country’s vulnerable areas at risk, so Comandos de Salvamento of El Salvador asks the population to remain alert to the increase in rainfall and seek shelters if the risk is imminent.

The storms of the past several hours have already begun to cause damage, as an electrical power pole gave way and obstructed the road to Jayaque, in La Libertad Oeste, where vehicular traffic has been closed.

On the road to Santiago de María, Comandos de Salvamento from the Alegría branch have been working since early this morning alongside Municipal Protección Civil to remove debris from a landslide and trees blocking the passage of vehicles.

The National Hurricane Center is maintaining an alert regarding the cyclonic development of a low-pressure area off the coast of Central America, identified as Invest 92E, which continues to generate extensive cloud cover and rainfall over the region.

This system is moving near the Central American Pacific coast, favoring conditions for heavy rainfall over the coming days.

Meanwhile, last night, Comandos de Salvamento, Juayúa branch, responded to a traffic incident on the road leading from Apaneca to Salcoatitán, near Santa Leticia.

The victim, who was traveling on a bicycle, fell due to adverse weather conditions and poor visibility in the area. After being stabilized, the victim was transported to Jorge Mazzini National Hospital in Sonsonate for specialized medical care.
