Members of Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador, who are part of the USAR group, were called upon to form part of the first contingent of humanitarian aid to search for and rescue victims of the double earthquake in Venezuela.

The rescuers from Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador have been trained to search for victims in confined spaces and collapsed structures. The men and women sent by the Salvadoran president to the South American country as part of the aid are among them.

From the first moment, the rescue groups began operations, already managing to rescue several people who were trapped in buildings in the State of La Guaria, where they have successfully rescued several victims and pets.

One of the most dramatic rescues involved the young woman Camila Sofía, who remained trapped alongside her pet. Salvadoran rescuers managed to recover both of them and bring them to safety.

Another victim of the fatal earthquake is Nayarit Colmenare, 39, whose rescue operation lasted more than eight hours of arduous work by the Salvadorans.

Marlene Angulo, 69, has been another victim recovered and taken to the hospital. Work was carried out to recover a man along with his two children.

The death toll has risen to more than 1,430 in Venezuela. 68,900 have still not been found. The chances of finding survivors decrease by the minute while rescue teams work nonstop, searching through the rubble.
