The closing of the patron-saint festivities was marred after more than one hundred people were burned by the painted bull, which is a traditional part of the celebrations in Quezaltepeque.
Rescuers from Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador, the Red Cross and other organizations treated people along Avenida 3 de mayo, where the traditional painted bull made its route from City Hall to Plaza Centenario.
During its route, several minors who came to enjoy the celebrations suffered first- and second-degree burns. Meanwhile, other adults were also affected by the fireworks launched by the bull.
Volunteers from the Quezaltepeque branch of Comandos de Salvamento assisted more than 65 minors, adults and elderly people who suffered first- and second-degree burns. Some were treated at the scene, while others were taken to FOSALUD to receive medical assistance.
