Yanira Imelda Ortiz de Rivera, during her youth serving Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador.

Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador shares in the grief and deeply mourns the passing of our beloved volunteer, Yanira Imelda Ortiz de Rivera, 45, who passed away after a prolonged illness at Hospital Nacional Zacamil.

Yanira was an outstanding volunteer first responder who actively participated in numerous rescues and community services during the civil war in El Salvador. Her dedication and commitment to the well-being of others were also reflected in her tireless work during natural disasters such as Hurricane Mitch, Storm 12E, earthquakes, and various emergencies involving traffic accidents.

Her passing leaves a void in our ranks, but her legacy of service and solidarity will remain alive in our hearts. Her remains will be viewed Wednesday and Thursday night at the Central Base of Comandos de Salvamento. The burial will take place on Friday, October 10, at 10:00 a.m. at Parque Memorial San Romero of La Bermeja Cemetery in San Salvador.

Comandos de Salvamento expresses its deepest condolences to her family members, friends, and fellow volunteers. May her memory inspire us to move forward with the same dedication and passion that she demonstrated.

Her colleagues from Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador stood an honor guard to bid farewell to her remains.
