64 years ago, a group of young people undertook volunteer work that now produces some of the best results thanks to the spirit of service embodied by Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador.

Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador was founded in Villa Delgado in 1960; one of its first interventions was during the earthquake of May 3, 1965. Since then, its volunteers have been a fundamental part of one of the country’s best humanitarian services.

An internationally recognized organization due to its high degree of service to others.

During the armed conflict that affected the country, Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador was an important pillar in rescuing those wounded in the armed confrontations between army elements and the FMLN guerrillas.

They were recognized and nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. The Legislative Assembly of El Salvador has named them on several occasions in recognition of their bravery and humanitarian service.

Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador is recognized as anonymous heroes because of its impartiality.

On the eve of the celebration of its 64th Anniversary, Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador now has more than 1,500 young volunteers ready to help people who are victims of traffic accidents, workplace accidents, and illnesses.

They are also the first to arrive to provide care in the most difficult situations experienced by the Salvadoran people, such as the Montebello landslide and the earthquakes that have left mourning and destruction. In addition, there have been hurricanes that have caused tragedies.

The current Board of Directors and Executive Directorate of Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador are fighting to ensure that the name of this nonprofit organization continues to provide assistance to the Salvadoran people through its emergency services.

They also thank their supporters, such as Norwegian People’s Aid, an organization that makes the ongoing training of its volunteers possible. They also thank Doctors of the Americas, who year after year provide medical campaigns in the most rural areas.
