During the past weekend, a series of traffic accidents left several people injured in different parts of the country, despite calls from emergency-services institutions and the DUI checkpoints carried out by the Government of President Nayib Buleke.

This morning, several passengers on privately operated minibuses were injured when the two units were involved in an accident on Carretera de Oro near kilometer six.

Units of Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador arrived at the scene of the accident and treated people there, while others were taken to medical centers.

Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador’s Berlín branch treated José Romeo, 17, who suffered trauma to his upper limbs after being struck by a vehicle while riding a motorcycle on kilometer 108 of the highway leading from the city of Berlín to Mercedes Umaña.

The victim was stabilized by the rescuers and was later taken to the FOSALUD Unit in the town of Berlín, Usulután.

The Quezaltepeque branch of Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador responded to kilometer 29 of the Western Pan-American Highway, which leads from Quezaltepeque to San Juan Opico, where two people suffered trauma in a road accident.

Rescuers from Comandos de Salvamento used hydraulic machinery to free the vehicle’s driver, who had become trapped among the unit’s twisted metal. Both people were taken to a medical center.

Meanwhile, in the eastern part of the country, a woman was assisted after being involved in a traffic accident between a motorcycle and a tractor-trailer.
