A woman riding her motorcycle suffered serious injuries after losing control and going over a cliff on the Litoral Highway at the fourth tunnel.
Units from Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador, the Red Cross, and other rescue organizations arrived at the scene to carry out the rescue of the woman, who had fallen approximately 25 meters down the cliff, while the vehicle she was riding in had already ended up in the waters of the Pacific Ocean.
Specialized vertical-rescue teams from Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador and the Salvadoran Red Cross stabilized the victim to begin lifting her to solid ground and take her to a medical center because of the trauma she suffered.
The victim was identified as Karla Vanesa Murillo Martínez, 28, a resident of Ciudad Delgado. She was urgently admitted to San Rafael Hospital in Santa Tecla.
Meanwhile, on the highway from San Rafael Cedros to Cabañas, the driver of a vehicle lost control of the unit and crashed into a pole, where the passenger died from traumatic brain injury.
Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador from the Sensuntepeque branch assisted one of the victims, while Police authorities awaited the arrival of the Legal Medicine Institute to carry out the legally required examination.
