Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador is a humanitarian organization that has reached 62 years of service to others and is made up mostly of young people who offer their volunteer work without caring about putting their lives at risk; their sole mission is to help those in need in every emergency.

Carlos Fuentes and Jhony Ramos are two veterans of Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador. They joined at a very young age, and several years have now passed while they continue providing this humanitarian service to the population.

Like them, there are many women who, through sacrifice, leave their household chores in order to give some of their time to work a shift at Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador. In addition to responding to emergencies in traffic accidents, they also help clean and disinfect the ambulances when they return from hospitals.

Many years have passed in this way. The volunteers of Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador are young people with limited financial resources; some are students, some are employees, and others sell products on the streets of San Salvador. Nevertheless, their spirit of service is greater, and for that reason they are always ready to respond to an alert call during emergencies.

Yolanda Elizabeth Ramírez was a young woman who gave her life during a storm in 1986 while helping rescue a pair of children in Comunidad Minerva in Barrio San Jacinto. At the time, she managed to bring the two minors to safety with the help of her colleagues, but the strong current of the ravine carried her away, and it was hours later that her body was found in Ciudad Delgado.

Like her, other young volunteers of Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador have given their lives in the fulfillment of their duty. Honor to these great heroes who gave their lives to save the lives of others.
