A young man experienced several minutes of anguish while driving a minibus along the Pan-American Highway leading to Quezaltepeque. Due to the storm and poor visibility, he collided with the rear of a truck trailer.
The young man was initially assisted by nearby residents, who were unable to do anything because the driver’s legs were trapped among the twisted metal of the vehicle.
Minutes later, members of the Rescue Unit of Comandos de Salvamento and Cruz Verde arrived. With the help of hydraulic equipment, they managed to free the young man, who was identified as Mario Ernesto Linares, 25 years old.
After being rescued and stabilized, he was taken to a healthcare facility because of the trauma he sustained.
