A 7-year-old child was taken, along with other people, to a health center due to the effects of the gases.

Comandos de Salvamento from Alegría and Berlín joined the task of evaluating and providing care to several families who were affected by the emission of gases from the wells of the Berlín Geothermal Power Plant.

Families residing in Caserío Buena Vista of Cantón Apastepeque, in the Municipio of Alegría, Departamento of Usulután, experienced vomiting, dizziness and burning eyes because gases were emerging from the wells of the geothermal power plant.

Comandos de Salvamento, together with the Municipal Protección Civil Commission, Bomberos, the Armed Forces, Policía Nacional Civil and Health Units, arrived at the site to evaluate the residents affected by these gases.

Comandos de Salvamento transported five affected people, including three adults, a 7-year-old child and a 15-day-old infant, to the Zapotillo Family ECO in Alegría, Usulután, so they could receive treatment.

Comandos de Salvamento also distributed masks to residents and provided the necessary recommendations should the gas exposure in the area continue.

Comandos de Salvamento, together with Municipal Protección Civil of Alegría, the Armed Forces, PNC and Health officials, assessed the effects.
Families are awaiting evacuation should the emission of gases continue.
