COMANDOS DE SALVAMENTO LAUNCHES #SAVETHELIFE PLAN

This post is also available in: Spanish Norwegian Bokmål French Chinese (Simplified) Japanese

Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador launched the 2025 rescue plan “@AlertaComando #SalvaTuVida” today, whose objectives are to “Rescue people’s lives when they are in danger due to causes of nature or man.” It will be expanded during the Holy Week season, from Palm Sunday, April 13, through Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025.

During this week, thousands of Salvadorans enjoy their vacations, while many others participate in religious activities. For this reason, Comandos de Salvamento will put its “#SalvaTuVida” plan into action, activating 1,500 volunteers, 80 lifeguards, and 55 ambulances, including five for Vehicle and Vertical Rescue, deployed across 31 stations in different parts of the country.

Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador will install two medical clinics, one at Costa del Sol and another at El Puerto de La Libertad, the areas where the beaches with the greatest tourist attendance are located, as well as 16 water-rescue posts and 62 roadside first-aid posts so they can respond promptly to emergencies.

The @AlertaComando #SalvaTuVida rescue operation bears this name in order to raise awareness among motorists that they themselves are the first ones responsible for saving their lives, followed, in a second instance, by Comandos volunteers, who will be activated to assist them in an emergency at 2133-0000, the emergency number for the entire country.

At the same time, @AlertaComando #SalvaTuVida will launch a campaign on social media to raise awareness among motorists so they do not become distracted while driving, since driver distraction is one of the main causes of the accidents that occur daily in El Salvador.

This campaign uses photographs to show the most common ways drivers become distracted and take their hands off the wheel while driving, including: driving while smoking, eating, drinking, carrying children or pets, and, most importantly, using a mobile phone. The main warning is to keep both hands on the wheel and drive free of alcoholic beverages.

The @AlertaComando #SalvaTuVida rescue operation is carried out thanks to contributions from our sponsors, including the Central Government, Legislative Assembly, Norwegian People’s Aid, and the private sector.
