The President of the Republic, Nayib Bukele, presented medals of merit to the 10 members of Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador who were among the 452 Salvadorans who made up the humanitarian mission that traveled to Venezuela following the two earthquakes.

In his speech, the Salvadoran president said, “We are here to pay tribute to the men and women of the Salvadoran contingent that was part of the humanitarian mission deployed in Venezuela. The medals you will receive represent the gratitude of the entire Salvadoran people, and I would dare say that of the Venezuelan people as well.”

The young volunteers of Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador are members of the Search and Rescue Unit, assigned to search for possible victims in the Venezuelan tragedy, where 9 people and pets were rescued alive thanks to the coordination of the USAR El Salvador group.

Other rescuers assisted at the Field Hospital that operated for several days in La Guaria, where thousands of patients were treated, as well as veterinarians who assisted dogs and other animals.

It should be noted that Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador also participated in recreational activities for the care of children staying in shelters, where they shared games and food, and above all provided psychological treatment.

Roberto Cruz, executive director of Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador, expressed his special gratitude to President Nayib Bukele, to whom he reaffirmed his commitment to help whenever the president requests it, placing all the units that make up Comandos de Salvamento at his disposal.

Once again, Comandos de Salvamento de El Salvador says: mission accomplished, Salvadoran people.
