YOU LEFT WITH YOUR BOOTS ON, CHARLIE DE LEÓN

Carlos De León leaves a void in Comandos de Salvamento.

Carlos De León, better known as Charlie, left this world at the age of 55, nearly 40 of which he dedicated to providing humanitarian service to the Salvadoran population during its most difficult moments.

Charlie joined Comandos de Salvamento in his youth, risking his life in the landslide at Colonia Montebello. The war did not prevent him from arriving in his yellow uniform to rescue soldiers and guerrilla members wounded in combat.

He was always present during earthquakes, helping at every moment and leaving a lesson in humility and perseverance through his work as a volunteer.

Neither storms nor hurricanes kept Charlie from saying, “Here I am; where are we going now to serve?” He was a man of great courage and bravery, but above all, he had a great heart, and now he leaves a void in our hearts.

The Board of Directors, administrative and operational staff, and friends bid farewell to this great hero who saved lives for many years and has now departed this earth, but gained heaven. See you soon, Charlie.

He was always ready to serve.
